Each
televised episode contains portions of the following segments:
Nina’s Crystal Palace Comedy Hour™ opening consists of a parody comedy song sung by Kareena
(Nina), the host of Crystal Palace. She is a cool, hip-hop fairy that wears
purple hi-top tennis shoes and plays basketball. Each episode she welcomes the children in the studio
audience, then introduces the magic “Crystal Cluster” word of the day to the
viewers. If the magic “Crystal
Cluster” word of the day is said, someone from the studio audience is turned
into a frog. One studio audience
member gets to sit on a giant lily pad during the show, just waiting to be
turned into a frog. Children
develop great listening skills waiting to hear the "magic word." Click on Kareena's picture to learn more!
Kareena
checks in with Marrianne (Nina) in each episode. Marrianne lives upstairs in the Crystal Palace. She is a 5 year old that loves to tell
nursery rhymes, but she always changes the words. She is surrounded by dozens of over-sized toys to accentuate
her small size. She is very
imaginative and keeps Barbie Doll heads on her toes inside her shark
slippers. Her shark slippers open
at the toes so that the “girls on her toes” can easily come out and play with
her. Marrianne is always willing
to share her life-time lollipop with everyone! Click Marrianne’s picture below to see her in action!!
Grandma Tessie (Nina) comes to the Crystal Palace each week to clean. She is great at teaching children good manners
and social skills through comedic examples. Tessie also instills a sense of caring for the elderly. The kids love to visit with her because
she always says or does something funny, whether she knows it or not. She may walk around with toilet paper
stuck to her shoe just to teach the children a lesson about life. She always has a positive point to
communicate in an entertaining message.

Eartha Cave Woman (Nina) is stuck in time. She lives in the past, but she knows
about all of the inventions to come in the future. She shares lots of facts about inventions through her
monologues. On many occasions,
Eartha Cave Woman receives visits from her favorite inventor, Thomas Edison
(Drew Wilson). Their chemistry on
camera is incredible. Click on

Tina Tells (Nina) gives the children
entertainment news about their favorite stars. She researches and shares interesting facts and photos of
stars that appeal to children. She
tells the scoop about the stars hobbies, charity work, or where to write to
their favorite stars. She uses
lots of funny word plays, making these segments filled with rich language for
children to learn from.
Eaaars Vanessa (Nina) lives in the Crystal Palace mailbag where she reads actual
mail that is sent in by the viewers.
She has over-sized ears and uses these to express to children that being
different is O.K. Eaaars Vanessa
has a great deal of self-esteem, which comes across clearly on camera. Eaaars Vanessa ends each weekly segment
with a poem that she creates specifically for the viewer who wrote. Most of the poems sum up what she was
trying to say when answering the mail. Click on Vanessa to hear the latest mail!
Big Toe (Nina) lives in a giant tennis shoe
at Crystal Palace and is always
getting into some kind of unpleasant situation. Big Toe always sings a short, hilarious song about his
experience. Some upcoming song
titles are “Big Toe Needs a TOE Truck,” “Big Toe Meets Paul Bunion,” and “Big
Toe Falls For the Door Mat.” Click

Head Concoctions is a high-energy game that Kareena
plays with children from the studio audience to stimulate creative
thinking. A few studio audience
children are shown a shape on a large piece of art board. The selected children have 30 seconds
to write down what they think the shape could be. There are no winners, only fun, creative, zany ideas.
Home Spun is a televised field trip. Kareena does the voice over of the
video footage to tell the story of the field trip. Examples of places to be visited for upcoming episodes are,
Krema Peanut Butter Factory, The Ohio State University Dairy Barn, The Columbus Dispatch Newspaper, and The
American Whistle Factory.
Louis the Toy Inventor (Louis Pemjean) visits Nina’s Crystal Palace Comedy Hour™ in
each episode to shar
Goofy Face of the Day Display gives studio-audience members who
would like to be on camera that opportunity. Each participant is shown for about 10 seconds with their
face pressed up on a clear plastic screen sliding it around making the weirdest,
funniest faces possible. These
clips are edited together and put to wacky music. The children love being silly and seeing themselves on T.V.
The show ends
each week with a segment called Honest Angels. Kareena invites the youngest member of the studio audience
to sit upon her Crystal Throne and answer serious questions in the tradition of
Art Linkletter. Some examples of
upcoming questions are, What does the president of the United States do? Where does money come from? How much money does it take to buy a
house? What is the best way to eat
peanut butter?
At the close
of every Nina’s Crystal Palace Comedy
Hour™, Kareena invites all the children in the studio audience to join her
in a Dance Party. Kareena and the
children dance as the closing credits roll.
